Music Post
Alanis Moressette is one of my favorite artists from the nineties. A very popular album of hers was "Jagged Little Pill". Shes continued to make albums up until now and has transitioned from real instruments to everything completely done electronically. Her last album was done with a some guitar parts and the rest with studio artists recreating her songs with synthetic means.
Blink 182 is a Punk Band of the ninties. I chose Blink 182 because they are a band I used to listen to when I was in Middle School and High School. They use many mainly guitars, drums and amps when they are performing live and in the studio. They are a mix of punk rock and pop music and were apparently a big contributor to the pop punk era.
Skrillex is a current dubstep/EDM artist that uses all electronic equipment in his performances and very elaborate lighting as well. Ive seen him in concert and really enjoy the way he creates his stage presence. He started out in a band called "From First to Last" as there lead singer before going out on his own a few years later. He uses a lot of bright colors on stage as do many EDM musicians. When it comes to making his music in the studio he uses a few different sound mixer boards, keyboards and multichannel converters. His albums include "Bangarang", "My name is Skrillex" and "Recess".
The Cure is a New Wave artist and has experimented with many different types of music other than new wave such as goth and punk. They use a few different guitars, bass and electric, amps and sound mixers to make there music. They have effects pedals they use for there stage presence. I chose them because they mix traditional ways of making music with technology which is how it was experimenting in the 90s.
The Flaming Lips is a Neo Psychedelia band. The flaming lips were also a band that slowly moved in the direction of using different software and plugins for there music. They use various kinds of instruments and drum pieces to produce different kinds of sounds that reflect there moods. They use ipads to create some of there songs as well. One of the artists talks about how you can just sit in your room now and make music you don't have to go out and experience anything to create good music. They are a band that owns up to using all kinds of technology and is probably right in saying that most people today don't think about how the music was made they just want to hear good songs.
